Dr. Drum is a biostatistician whose primary area of expertise is statistical modeling of correlated data, both continuous and categorical, particularly in the generalized linear mixed model framework specifically, logistic models with random effects. Data of this type arise in longitudinal, hierarchical and other repeated measures designs, which are widely used in medical and epidemiological studies, particularly in cluster randomized community-based studies. She has also conducted cluster analysis of gene expression profiles of glucose-stimulated beta cells, and her interests include development and adaptation of statistical methodology to this rapidly expanding area of application. She is a member of the core groups improving diabetes care in community health centers, analyzing treatment preferences of older persons with diabetes, and evaluating minority children with diabetes.
